Eighth grader Lauren Groom, coached by Michele Cochrane and Don Laux, broke the single season scoring record for the Carle Place Women's Varsity Basketball team during the Frogs 2000-2001 campaign. Her 394 points in 20 games, eclipses the old mark of 317 points in 24 games set by Crista Leahy during the 1990-1991 season, in which the Lady Frogs won the first of two consecutive Long Island Class "C" Championships, then coached by Bob Kiernan.
Groom led the 2000-2001 edition of the Frogs to a 12 and 8 record and a second place finish in the Nassau County Class "C" Championships won by Oyster Bay.
