Mamie Miller, 63, of Westbury, died on Jan. 31, 2001. She was a Newsday carrier, retiring in 1996. Mother of Karen Miller, Andrew Miller and Michael Miller. Grandmother of eight. Great-grandmother of two. Interment Plain Lawn Cemetery.
Charles H. Schellhorn, 79, died recently at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of Mae (James) Schellhorn. Mr. Schellhorn was born in Brooklyn and raised and educated in Jackson Heights and was a longtime resident of Westbury, before retiring to Brewster, MA with his wife in 1985. After serving in the US Army in WWII he worked for several years in the photo engraving industry, with his last position as studio manager at PDI, a subsidiary of Time Warner Co., retiring in 1982.
Mr. Schellhorn was active with the Boy Scouts of America, Little League Baseball and also volunteered at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History and bingo at Our Lady of the Cape Church where he was a communicant.
Besides his wife Mae, he is survived by his sons, Charles W. of Kansas City, KS, Captain Matthew E. of Poquoson, VA, Christopher F. of Wilton, CT and Mark F. of Clinton, NJ. Also surviving are his brother, Vincent Schellhorn of Palm Bay, FL. Mr. Schellhorn was the grandfather of 11 grandchildren and had several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by the Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans, MA. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Cape Church. Burial Massachusetts National Cemetery.
