Black History Month Kicked Off in Westbury
Black History Month was kicked off in Westbury this week, through events at such institutions as St. Brigid's Church, the State University of New York (SUNY) Old Westbury, the Islamic Center and the public schools.
Residents Complain About Disturbances From Night Club
Some residents of Newton Street in the Village of Westbury turned out at the most recent village board meeting to issue complaints about a Post Avenue night club seeking renewal of a special use operating permit.
New Black Belts
Charles Water's Karate & Fitness has announced that the following students have successfully completed their requirements and have passed their test for 1st Degree Black Belt and 2nd Degree Black Belt. The time and training for these degrees of excellence range from four to eight years of training. The United States Soo Bahk Do Federation recently held its Region Two Dan Testing in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. This was the 106th Dan (Korean term for Black Belt). The testing was attended by the technical advisor and Master Water's instructor Master H.C. Hwang.
