As part of the East Meadow Lions Club Bowling for the Blind program at the East Meadow Bowl, a volunteer assists one of the many blind participants.

The East Meadow Lions Club continues to conduct its Bowling for the Blind program at the East Meadow Bowl. The program, in which the visually impaired are assisted in bowling by volunteers, is held every other Saturday at 1 p.m. The most recent event took place Jan. 13, and the next one is scheduled for Jan. 27. Volunteers or visually impaired persons who wish to participate are asked to call John Persich at (516) 334-3730. The Lions Club also conducts several other service projects in the community. For example, on Jan. 15, the group sponsored a free-throw contest, and on Jan. 18, will hold an awards ceremony for its Peace Poster Contest.
