Carle Place High School last week announced that six of its fall varsity sports teams have qualified for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. Scholar/Athlete Team Awards. The program is sponsored by the Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc., an entity that is committed to honoring varsity student athletes who also excel in the classroom.
To qualify for the award, there is a minimum number of students/team members who must have collectively earned a 90 percent or higher academic average on their report cards during the marking period. These grades are strictly based upon non-weighted academic averages, which makes earning the award even more challenging.
