I was pleased to see that Village Clerk Tom Savino and Village Superintendent of Buildings Dan Whalen spoke before the Central Westbury Civic Association recently regarding village matters. Your article (The Westbury Times, Dec. 7) highlighted two very fine and important members of our village family.
I am proud to have recommended Tom for the position of village clerk after Bill Malone retired, having previously known Tom and his work as the assistant clerk in Mineola. His conduct of the job since he was hired by the village has been exemplary and he has exceeded every expectation that has been placed on him. I am also very aware, as the village board's liaison to the building department, of the very fine work that Dan Whalen does. I see firsthand the way he deals with and resolves the many difficult issues and problems that he is confronted with on a daily basis.
Your article helps to let everyone here in Westbury know how fortunate we are to have such hard-working, knowledgeable and effective public servants such as Tom and Dan, and all of the other dedicated employees of the village.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the residents, business proprietors and employees of the village, and all of their families, a very happy and holy holiday season and all success and health in the New Year.
Peter I. Cavallaro
Trustee, Village of Westbury
