Residents from throughout the Village of Westbury gathered for the community's annual tree-lighting ceremonies this past Saturday, Dec. 9. The celebration was held at the village's Recreation Center on Post Avenue, with an abundance of holiday activities both indoors and outdoors.

Fields Competes for William Smith College
Tiffany Fields of Westbury will play for the William Smith College basketball team this season. The Herons, 22-6-0 in 1999-2000, return six letter winners and are 2-1 through three games this year. Fields, a graduate of St. Dominic's High School, Oyster Bay, is a sophomore guard.

NCSC Announces 'Gotta Play Hockey'
The non-profit, Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) hosted a press conference on Tuesday, Nov. 28, announcing the kick-off of their Gotta Pay Hockey! initiative. Gotta Play Hockey!, coordinated in conjunction with the New York Islanders and Vytra Healthcare, encourges kids to get involved in all levels and aspects of hockey - dek, roller, street and ice. Gotta Play Hockey!, is a website hosted on the NCSC's site at www.nassausports.org. The site features two interactive hockey related games, one, compliments of Zapspot.com called Puck Break, and the other, a trivia game, courtesy of the National Hockey League (NHL).
