In a ceremony Sunday morning, the keys to the new home, located on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Bond Street, were handed to Pamela Douglas, a local mother of two. Pam will reside there with her daughter Quannesha, 10, and son Kevin, 7.

United States Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy kicked off her campaign last week for re-election in her hometown of Mineola. Supporters, volunteers and local lawmakers and candidates packed into McCarthy's campaign headquarters, located at 315 Willis Avenue, to begin what they hope will be a successful campaign.

Carle Place Volleyball Starts with a Splash
Volleyball players and parents came together on a sunny Saturday in July to hold their Annual Craft/Garage Sale and Car Wash at Carle Place High School. The event is sponsored by the girls volleyball teams and organized by the parents to raise funds for travel, warm-ups, T-shirts, and other expenses not covered by the school budget.

All Stars Defeated in Tournament
Martin "Bunky" Reid Park recently hosted the 33rd Annual Men's Invitational Basketball Tournament. This year's winning team came from the community of Hempstead. Their win broke the two-year winning streak of Westbury's Bunky Reid All Stars. The sponsor was Keri Coach Works.
