Both the girls and boys varsity track and field teams enjoyed another very successful spring at Carle Place High School.

There were 35 girls who earned varsity letters on this year's team. The girls team placed third in the Divisionals and third in the Section VIII County Meet in the "C" Classification. Head Coach John Strassenreiter, Assistant Coach Janet Paradine, and volunteer Coach Rob Gallo were pleased with the development of the team throughout the season. The senior Tri-captains of Danielle Perfetto (sprints), Michelle Fox (discus/shot), and Sara Strassenreiter (distance) provided the much needed leadership to generate success. The team posted a very respectable 9-4 record in a very competitive Conference IV. The most exciting win included a two-=point win over Wheatley in the team's first meet of the season.

In the Division Championships held at Friends Academy's beautiful all-weather track, many of the girls posted season's best as the Frogs scored 105.5 points. At the Nassau County Track Coaches Championships, the Frogs premier relay teams not only won their first-ever championship plaque, they swept all three relays. At the Section VIII/County Championships, our girls had an incredible effort and led through most of the meet, but fell short in the end, losing to Friends Academy. The team scored an impressive 103 points at the Counties. The Frogs had individual champions in the triple jump - Jacquie Wicks, and in the high hurdles ¬ Dana Zalesky. Twenty-four medals were captured in this meet and six girls earned All-County honors/team records.
