Westbury Students Receive Mayor's Award
Fifth graders from Powell's Lane and Drexel Ave. Elementary Schools recently participated in the Telementor Project. Students, with guidance from senior mentors, wrote a report about the Westbury community, and, as a culminating activity, participated in a mock village meeting held at Westbury Village Hall. Their goal was to experience firsthand local government at work.

Black Catholic Ministry Honors Commissioner Willett
After a very moving homily by Father Frank Gaeta at the 5 p.m. Mass, the Black Catholic Ministry of St. Brigid's Church in Westbury hosted a recognition ceremony honoring Commissioner William J. Willett of the Nassau County Police Department for his tireless contributions to the profession and to the community for nearly half a century.

C.P. Boys' Track Team Undefeated Conference Champions
Once again, Carle Place High School's varsity boys' track team earned another Divisional Championship. The Frogs also added a Conference Championship by finishing the season with a perfect 12-0 record. Head Coach Bob Tonner and Assistant Coahces Paul Schafer and John Cantwell guided their team to a memorable and rewarding season.
