The weather did not cooperate fully, in fact last Saturday night, April 15, was rainy and overcast, but this did not dampen the spirits of those who braved the elements to join students, parents, friends and well-wishers of Westbury High School, at the third annual scholarship dinner/dance.
As in previous years, the effort was geared toward raising funds to assist in providing scholarships to graduating seniors. This year, due to the inclement weather, the turnout was not as good as the preceding two years, but sumptuous food was in plentiful supply, and DJ Cracker Jack kept the revelers on the dance floor and a good time was had by all.
On behalf of Westbury High School, Parent Teachers Students Association, I wish to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the following local merchants who contributed so generously toward the success of the event. The kind gestures in the form of gift certificates truly demonstrate a spirit of community and commitment to the cause of education, and they were greatly appreciated by the recipients:
Big M Car Wash, Boston Chicken, Caffe Baci, California Kitchen, Costco, Don Juan, Fortunoff, Harvest Diner, Hicks Nurseries, Kmart, Nakasaki Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Polka Towne Gift Shoppe, Proschel's Florists, TGI Friday's, Tued's Beauty Supply, Westbury Valet Cleaners.
