Healthy Changes for East Meadow Jail
A recent collaborative effort between the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) and the Nassau County Correctional Center (NCCC) in East Meadow has overhauled the jail's ailing health care system by expanding medical services staff, and restructuring the health care delivery system. A primary aim of the new system is to reduce the number of inmates who receive healthcare outside the facility, thereby decreasing overtime costs.

BOCES 'Bad Deal' for Westbury
Close to 100 concerned residents from New Cassel and Westbury showed up at a meeting held April 7 at the community center on Post Ave. to protest Nassau BOCES efforts to purchase a building it now rents in Westbury, the result of which would be a $320,000 loss to the tax rolls in the Westbury School District.

Tennis Association Joins USTA
The Community Tennis Association of East Williston has joined the United States Tennis Association (USTA). After offering classes through an independent children's arts program for five years, it was the natural evolution for the growing sport of tennis to join the USTA as a non-profit Community Tennis Association (CTA). Being affiliated with the USTA as a CTA will improve the quality of the tennis experience, with full access to the support, funding, and services that the USTA can provide, along with the immediate benefit of friendly competition with other established CTAs.
