Carle Place resident Michelle Bruckner, a freshman at Sacred Heart University, recently earned the Lacrosse Rookie of the Week nod after exploding for 6 goals in Sacred Heart's 2-0 week. She recorded 4 points (3 goals and 1 assist) in SHU's 14-3 shellacking of Marist, and then registered her second hat trick of the week (3 goals) in a 13-6 win over Manhattan. Bruckner has emerged as one of the Pioneers' top offensive threats this year, as she currently ranks second in the team in scoring (11 points/2.75 ppg), goals (7 goals/1.75 gpg) and assists (4 assists/1.0 apg).

Bruckner made All County Lacrosse and Field Hockey in 1998-99 for Carle Place High School.
