Coach Bob Kieran kept 10 golfers on this year's varsity team, including four seniors, two juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen. Frank Amodeo was victorious in four of his seven matches. Tim Yadeska earned three wins, and Brian Mockler and Matt Albertson both won two matches each. All four senior continued to improve and helped their team with consecutive victories over Plainedge (9-0) and Farmingdale (8-1). Although the team lost four league matches, they challenged their opponents, especially Bethpage, to the final hole of each match.
The Frogs' Captain and #1 player, junior Mike Kelly, continued his quest to become one of the top golfers in Nassau County. Mike lost only one match and brought his nine-hole average down to 41.6. Both Mike Kelly and sophomore Sean Marshall qualified to compete as individual golfers in the Nassau County Championships to be held at Bethpage State Park in late May 2000. Sophomore Jimmy Amodeo also won two individual matches this season and should be ready to move up to compete at the #2 or #3 spot next year. Junior Rob Boyce and freshmen Brian Albertson and Nick Boyce are three of our up-and-coming varsity golfers who have the potential to really contribute on next year's team. Good luck to both Mike and Sean Marshall at this year's County Championship.
