Students from Carle Place Middle School and High School are involved in an exciting program called the FIRST Competition. This is an international science and technology event in which young people from around the world plan, design, build and operate robots. Once completed, these robots are placed into competition against students from other schools, with the goal of performing a specific job. Points are awarded to the schools whose robots are able to achieve best results. Regional competitions are held with the winners proceeding to the national event at Disney World.

The students, along with their faculty advisors, will work many long hours in both the preparation and construction phases. Outside help from technical advisors, engineers, art designers and many others is needed to aid in this project.

Any available assistance from the community in terms of financial aid, or hands-on support, would certainly be appreciated.

The valuable lessons learned by the students extend much farther than the actual competition. The idea of working together as a group to successfully achieve a goal is something that will be of value to each of them in the future.

To contribute time, services, or funds please call 622-6446.
