Anyone who travels on Old Country Road in Westbury can attest to the growing congestion that has occurred over the years. For many, the increase in traffic brings minor inconvenience, or a longer commute. Family, friends, hospital staff members and caseworkers joined together at Nassau County Medical Center (NCMC) in East Meadow Dec. 1 to commemorate World AIDS Day, and to memorialize the 40 patients from the hospital and affiliated institutions who had succumbed to the virus in the past year. Carle Place High School's boys' varsity soccer team completed another memorable season finishing in second place in Conference B IV with a record of 8-1-3 (19 points). The Frogs finished just one point behind Bellmore JFK who made it all the way to the Class "B" semifinals. Interestingly, the Frogs played the Conference B IV Championships twice with both games ending in a tie. Coach John Strassenreiter attributed the great turnaround season to great team chemistry, as well as superb leadership and desire.
