  • SPORTS: Barnum Woods' Students Compete in NFL Program

    In the second year that the school has participated in the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick Program, Barnum Woods Elementary School of the East Meadow District has placed exceptionally well in the tournament. The competition scored each individual in three different skill areas and ranked the overall outcome. Winners entered local and regional competitions and the finalists were offered a chance to go to the state finals held during a New York Jets game. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Westbury Athlete Competes at Foot Locker Cross Country Championships

    Top high school harriers will compete at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) Northeast Regional race Nov. 27 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. National '97 Finalist (FLCCC) Danielle Jelley, a senior at W.T. Clarke High School in Westbury will return to compete for a coveted spot on the National team. Jelley placed seventh in the 1997 Northeast Regional. The 5,000 meter seeded race for the girls begins at noon and at 12:30 p.m. for the boys.
