Colleen Marie McLaughlin of Westbury, currently a senior at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, recently signed a letter of intent accepting a full athletic scholarship to Bryant College in Rhode Island.

McLaughlin, a point guard and a starter for four years for Our Lady of Mercy High School Basketball led Our Lady of Mercy to the 1999 Catholic High School Championships. She was selected to the New York State Federation All Star Basketball Team, and received the prestigious NCAA Student Athlete Award for maintaining an "A" average as a participant in High School athletics. She has been selected to the Catholic High School All League Team for track and basketball for the past three seasons.

While attending Our Lady of Mercy Academy, McLaughlin has been on the honor roll and was recently inducted to the National Honor Society for art and is a member of the Leader's Club and Student Council.

McLaughlin is the daughter of proud parents Vincent and Belinda McLaughlin of Westbury.
