I just received a copy of the Sept. 30 issue of The Westbury Times. It is probably the only one I have seen since 1955 when Mr. Hartwell published my wedding announcement.

Back in 1943 or '44, I was the scribe for Girl Scout Troop #12, led by Mrs. Edwin (Sylvia) Hicks. It was my duty each week to write a one or two paragraph report of our troop's activities for publication in The Times. This I hand-carried to The Westbury Times office on Drexel Ave. (a little white building behind the Meadowbrook Pharmacy) and gave it to Mr. Hartwell himself.

I attended the recent reunion of the Westbury High School classes of 1947, '48 and '49. I brought with me a photograph of some of us taken by my father in 1945 at our 8th grade graduation. It was a real pleasure to all of us in the picture to be able to recreate it after all this time, and to see them both printed in The Westbury Times.

Some of us at the reunion traveled quite a distance. Dr. Louise Bradley Hughes from Sarasota, Florida; Connie Soulias Carides from Cinnaminson, New Jersey; and I from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As was reported, others came from as far away as California and the state of Washington. All of us have fond memories of Westbury.

I was tickled by the coverage our reunion received in The Westbury Times. I would like to express my thanks to the reunion committee for an outstanding job of planning and organizing a really nice weekend. I have heard nothing but compliments from those attending.
