O'Connell Challenges Newburger's Position on Town Finances
When May Newburger was elected as North Hempstead town supervisor six years ago, she inherited a cumulative budget deficit of $8.5 million. Now in her third term, and seeking a fourth, the first female chief executive of a Nassau County township is touting a budget surplus approaching $4 million, a Moody's bond rating increase, and the creation of Harbor Links golf complex, which, according to Newburger, generated $1.8 million gross revenue in just a few months of operation.

Clarke Runner Lauded for County Championship
W. Tresper Clarke High School has a budding star in Danielle Jelley, Nassau County's cross country champion for the third consecutive season. Winning a 3.1 mile race at the Suffolk Coaches Invitational Meet held at Sunken Meadow Park recently, Jelley recorded a time of 19:26.7 and breezed to an undisputed victory.
