John (Jack) Daniel Falls Jr., 70, deacon at St. Brigid's Church, died on Sept. 9, 1999. Born Sept. 11, 1928 in Ozone Park, he graduated from John Adams High School. He served in the Marine Corps in in the Mediterranean and won the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. He graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in management. He was the founder of Techno Foundation, in which volunteers helped the poor in Chile, during the 1960s.

Mr. Falls worked for several paper companies as a buyer. He became a deacon as part of the first class at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception and was ordained by Bishop John R. McGann in 1979. As he deacon, he was still involved in helping the poor, officated at the marriages of four of his daughters and baptized his eight grandchildren. He became associate director of human development for the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 1981. He retired in 1991 but continued his work with the church.

Mr. Falls is survived by his wife Virginia (Scharf); his children, Suzanne Percifull of St. Pete Beach, FL; Alison Falls McElvery of Lawrenceville, GA; Marianne Falls of Columbia, MD; Cecilia Young of Westbury; Eileen Horner of Jamison, PA; Bernadette Skelly of Ellicott City, MD, and Rosemary Falls of Dobbs Ferry; sisters, Anne DaRin and Irene Girvan; brothers, Charles Falls and Vincent Falls; and eight grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Donohue Funeral Home, Westbury. Mass of Transferral at St. Brigid's RC Church. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Brigid's Parish Outreach, 50 Post Ave., Westbury, NY 11590.

Audrey J. Schmidt-Coyle, of Westbury, died on Sept. 9, 1999. Wife of Daniel Coyle and the late W. Frederick Schmidt. Mother of William, Eugene, Sanford, Stephen and Christopher. Stepmother of Mary, Ethel, Denise, Daniel, Patrick, Peter, Brian, Kevin and the late Rosemarie. Mother-in-law of Robin, Catherine, Antonina, Jolanta, Anthony, Robert, Michael, Stacey, Linda, Michele, Karen and Joseph. Grandmother and stepgrandmother of 26. Sister of Lucy. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Chapel, Garden City. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Hope church. Interment Pinelawn Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Mary Helenek (nee Bachraty), of Westbury, died on Sept. 14, 1999. Wife of the late John. Mother of John and the late Marilyn Cipullo. Grandmother of Michael Cipullo and Kristen Reed. Sister of Ann Helenek and Helen Bednarz. Arrangements were made by the Cecere Funeral Home, Carle Place. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
