Dr. Constance Clark has replaced Dr. Robert D. Pinckney as the new superintendent of schools for the Westbury Union Free School District. Previously, Dr. Clark worked in Washington D.C. as the director of Upward Bound, a program that academically prepares disadvantaged students for admittance into colleges and universities. Julia Keoge, public health nurse for Nassau County, held an Infant Mortality Prevention workshop Aug. 23 at the Westbury Recreation Center. The workshop was part of a new outreach program initiated by the Nassau County Department of Health called the Infant Mortality Prevention Program. Its goal is to "bridge the gap of the infant mortality rates between black and white infants." FULL STORY

The Westbury based L.I. Wave Girls Basketball Team finished their spectacular season in an equally spectacular fashion, winning the National Amateur Athletic Union Championship for the 13 and under girls basketball division. FULL STORY
