Domenick Buffalino, 82, formerly of Westbury, died on Feb. 23, 1999. He was a retired supervisor for Nassau County. Husband of Claire. Father of Carmella and Joseph. Stepfather of Gerard Armijo, Richard Armijo, Bonnie Green,Donna Trott and Linda Westberry. Brother of Vincenza Simeone, Philomena Daddio and Andrew Buffalino. Grandfather of 15. Memorial Mass at St. Brigid's RC Church.
Ruth Kissam Stevenson, of Orient, died at the San Simeon by the Sound Nursing Home, Greenport, on March 28, 1999 at the age of 87. Born in Little Neck to Richard Kissam and Isabella Jacobia, she was educated at the Northfield Schools in Massachusetts and raised her family in Westbury where her husband was a veterinarian.
While residing in Westbury, Mrs. Stevenson was active in the Girl Scouts serving two years as president of the Mid-Island Girl Scout Council of NC. She also served on the Girl Scout Board of Camp Edey, Bayport as president for six years until she retired with her husband to the Northfork of LI.
A member of the board of trustees of the Eastern LI Hospital for 13 years, 12 of which she was the elected secretary and received the Theodore Roosevelt Award for exceptional service. She was also an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the Southold Garden Club serving as president and secretary where she won many ribbons for her floral arrangements.
She was predeceased by her husband Dr. J.C. Stevenson, a brother Rodman Kissam and a sister Marion Huff. She is survived by her sister Ethel Ketchem of Mineola; her daughter Lina Seidman of NYC and Orient; her son Chris Stevenson of Gainsville, FL; and three grandchildren, Dr. Pond Kelemen of St. Louis, MO, Chandra Kelemen of NYC and James Stevenson of Baltimore, MD; and two great-grandsons.
Ruth's grandchildren, Dr. Pond Kelemen and Chandra Kelemen remember "grandma setting out grandpa's breakfast dishes the night before, her canned peaches, Christmas Eve and her hot tamale pie served on New Year's Day."
