At long last change, positive and real change, is about to come to the Post Avenue business district in the Village of Westbury.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 a.m., the Westbury Business Improvement District will unveil its plans for the facade renovation program which will significantly alter the face of Westbury's downtown.

To date, 400 invitations have been mailed out for the announcement, which will come at a breakfast held at the Westbury Community Center.

Seeded with BID and county funds, administered through Nassau's Operation Downtown, the plan that will be announced will include a detailed blueprint for the physical overhaul of both Post Avenue and the adjoining side streets.

"Our plan is designed to financially assist any BID property owner or business tenant with an upgrade to the facade of their properties, including architectural plan, lighting, signage and the like," said John Petras, the Bid's president.

In announcing the breakfast, Petras credited several individuals, including village officials and Scott Skodneck, of Hofstra University's' Business Development Center with assisting in getting the facade improvement plan off the ground.

"Now it's up to the district; landlord and tenant to take advantage of the available assistance and bring this plan to fruition," he said.

Information about the plan and/or the Jan. 28 breakfast meeting is available by calling 876-0271.
