Carle Place High School held its sixth annual girls' and boys' basketball camps during the month of July. Some 95 girls and boys, grades five-10, attended the two-week camp. During the approximate 3 1/2 hour daily sessions, students learned specific individual and team skills, the rules of the game, participated in specific skill competitions, and scrimmaged within their age groups. In addition, individual campers were recognized by their coaches as "camper of the day" for their effort, enthusiasm and skill development.
Coach Jim Colligan, the boys' varsity basketball coach for the past 21 years, both appreciates and supports the efforts put forth by these young players everyday. "Most of these younger players return to camp each summer and generally display a love of the game. They work to improve their skills, enjoy competition and develop some real friendships with their fellow players."
Mr. Colligan appreciates the hard work of the coaching staff and the parents and players who support the program.
