Three Carle Place High School wrestlers earned medals at the recent North Shore Novice Tournament held at Herricks Community Center. Both head coach Doug Dyer and his assistant coach, Mike Nicoll, were proud of the development and achievement of these young wrestlers. There were approximately 18 schools represented at this novice tournament.
Freshman Fayaz Dar earned a first place medal by overpowering his opponents resulting in pinning his Locust Valley and Clarke opponent in the first period. Fayaz has a current season individual record of 13 wins and seven losses, which includes 10 pins.
Sophomore Nicholas Sardis brought home a second place medal by pinning both his Syosset and Port Washington opponents but lost a close 3-2 decision in the finals to a Great Neck District wrestler. Nicholas currently has an individual record of 11 wins and seven losses, including eight pins.
Sophomore Matt Germain earned a third place medal by pinning both his Herricks and Hicksville opponents but unfortunately lost a close 9-6 decision to the Locust Valley wrestler in the semifinal round. Congratulations to all three wrestlers!
