Music lovers, families, veterans, patriots and everyone in between are all invited to enjoy a fun-filled night of music and entertainment in a special performance by the renowned United States Marine Forces Reserve Band. The free concert will be held Saturday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Newbridge Road Park, located at 2600 Newbridge Road in Bellmore. The band will play patriotic favorites along with a variety of contemporary and traditional arrangements, a repertoire sure to satisfy a diverse range of musical tastes.
“We are very pleased to offer residents the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic evening of entertainment,” Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray said. “The Marine Forces Reserve Band is a wonderfully talented group of musicians and we are grateful that they are able to join us for a special one-night only show that residents are sure to love.”
Under the control of the Marine Forces Reserve, the band is comprised of active duty Marines stationed at the Naval Support Activity Base in New Orleans. It is composed of a ceremonial and concert band, jazz combo and brass and woodwind quintets. The band supports all units of the Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Fourth Marine Division, Marine Logistics Group and Marine Corps Reserve Support Command. With an authorized strength of 50 active duty Marines, the band has performed at events ranging from Mardis Gras balls and parades in New Orleans to the Texas State Fair.
“I encourage everyone to bring a lawn chair, good spirits and patriotic pride and join us on June 13th for a phenomenal summer concert that is not to be missed,” Supervisor Murray concluded.
