Numerous breakfasts, dozens of lunches and a slew of dinners I’ve spent at the Stop 20 Diner on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont fill my cerebral cortex on a daily basis. Their cheesecake is to die for, the burgers are cooked to order and the décor still serves a time long-since passed, but still is ever prevalent today.
Every Sunday, my dad and I would have lunch after a round of golf at Eisenhower Park. He loved their grilled cheese and I couldn’t get enough of their steak and eggs.
I’m a sucker for an egg cream. Stop 20 always had an endless supply.
If you pass through Elmont and have to stop for some nourishment for your tummy, take a bite out of Stop 20; I guarantee you it won’t be your last.
