The Town of Hempstead Board will hold a hearing during its December 15 meeting to consider raising the salaries of the town supervisor and board members.
Under consideration is a $10,000 raise for Town Supervisor Kate Murray, which would bring her salary up to $150,000. Also under consideration is a $4,500 raise for each of the members of the town board.
“The Town of Hempstead has one of the best-run governments anywhere. Its officials work very hard and they deserve to be fairly compensated,” said Town of Hempstead spokesman Mike Deery.
The last time Murray and the Town Board members received raises was 2008 when Murray received a $10,000 raise, town board members received a $5,000 raise and Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin and Town Clerk Mark Bonilla each received $7,500 raises.
The town board meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15 in the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, Town Hall Plaza, One Washington Street in Hempstead.
