Sewanhaka High School Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Daniel Myrick, who is ranked first at Sewanhaka High School, was recently named valedictorian for the Class of 2012. An AP Scholar, Daniel’s academic achievements have been recognized by his induction into the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

For the past three years he was a member of the All-County Band and was first chair clarinet in the All-District Orchestra and All-District Band. Daniel is enrolled in the challenging Instrumentation and Automation Program, and last year was the recipient of the George Washington University School of Engineering Medal.

He is the president of the school’s Robotics League, and has served as lead programmer during Robotic League competitions. Daniel plans to major in computer programming in college.

Daniella Amell was named Sewanhaka’s salutatorian. She is an active participant in the Model UN program, serving as the Charge D’Affairs of the Inter-District Model UN Conference last spring.

Amell received the University of Rochester’s Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award in 2011. An active member of the Band, Jazz Band and Marching Band, Daniella had the honor to be the drum major at Newsday’s Marching Band Festival.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Class Board and Varsity Soccer Team. Daniella volunteers at Parker Jewish Institute and is a substitute Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School volunteer at Calvary Full Gospel Fellowship in Floral Park. She plans to major in History in college.

Congratulations to these outstanding students.
