A suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime. Sweeney Todd tells the tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London, seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him. American Chamber Ensemble

Present Musaic I, the first concert of its 2009-2010 concert season at 3 p.m. at Monroe Lecture Center Theater of Hofstra University, California Ave., Hempstead. Featured pieces will include Walter Rabl’s Quartet, op. 1 for piano, clarinet, violin and cello, Schumann’s Fairy Tales, op. 132 for clarinet, viola and piano, Mendelssohn’s Trio, op. 49 for violin, cello and piano, and contemporary American composer Joelle Wallach’s After Alcyon’s Dream for clarinet, viola and piano. Performers will be ACE Directors, pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker, along with Eriko Sato, violin, Chris Finckel, cello, Los Martin, viola and Marilyn Sherman Lehman, piano. AARP Elmont Chapter #5232

Will meet at the Elmont Memorial Public Library, 1735 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont, at 1 p.m. on the first Monday of every month. There will be a guest speaker at every meeting. St. Joseph School Open House/Guided Tour

St. Joseph School, 450 Franklin Ave., Garden City, which is devoted to integrating the teachings of the Catholic faith within a creative and stimulating learning environment, is hosting an Open House Guided Tour from 9:30 to 11 a.m., for Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten. Parents will be able to see how St. Joseph School gives young children an early advantage for life by providing a uniquely well-rounded education in a nurturing, small-group setting. School Board and PTA members and family members of current will guide parents through the entire complex, including classrooms in the Early Children Education Center as well as the modern playground and indoor gymnasium. This very personal tour will enable parents to get answers to any questions they might have about the school including programs and sessions.
