Model Train Show April 28, 29 At Airpower Museum in Farmingdale

Trainville Hobby Depot of Hicksville is bringing a model train show to the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale again this year on the weekend of April 28 and 29. Hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission includes the train show and all museum exhibits.

Many local train clubs set up their very impressive displays of N, HO and O-gauge model railroads. Trainville Hobby Depot will be displaying its N-Scale layout. There will also be a display planned of the Z-Scale trains.

Fees are $10 adults; $5 children ages 5-12; children under 5 free. The museum is located at 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale on the northeast portion of Republic Airport.

All admission fees support the museum. The American Airpower Museum is a living tribute to WWII and Long Island aviation history. It is in the historic hanger where Republic manufactured P-47 airplanes. During a visit you may get to see restored historic aircraft fly. There are also many hands-on exhibits for children of all ages to enjoy.

Recently, scenes for the TV show Pan Am were shot at the museum.

Other upcoming museum events include the Long Island Scale Model Society Noreastcon on May 5 and 6. This is a show for modeling clubs from Maine to Long Island. Open to the public, modelers compete in many categories with aircraft, ships, tanks, and many other types of kits that they have built.  Trainville Hobby Depot will be hosting a model train exhibit at Westy Storage Center in Hicksville on July 15 and participating in the Railroad Museum of Long Island Railroad Festival in Riverhead on August 25. They are also planning a train show together with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano for September.

Trainville show information can be accessed at www.trainville.com or by calling 516-433-4444. For American Airpower Museum information call 631-293-6398 or visit americanpowermuseum.com.

Rice said that on Saturday, Dec. 15, investigators from the DA’s Office conducted a joint operation with the Nassau County Police Department’s Asset Forfeiture Unit and ICE’s Trademark Counterfeit team at the Green Acres Outdoor Flea Market. Numerous booths were identified by experts for selling counterfeit Coach and Louis Vuitton handbags, UGG boots, music CDs, and DVDs.
