One weekend after Valley Stream North High School junior Emilija Vaskyte won the New York State Winter Track & Field Championship in the 1500-meter racewalk event, she won the national title in the 1-mile racewalk at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships on March 15. Emilija's time of 7 minutes, 38.57 seconds is the fastest in the United States this season.
