Police are investigating a robbery in Elmont that ended in a 27-year-old man getting shot in the shoulder on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

According to police, the man was walking on Kiefer Avenue at 2:55 p.m. when he was approached by a subject, described as a black male, 20s, 5'8", who displayed a handgun and demanded the man hand over his jewelry.

As the victim was handing over his gold chain, the subject shot him in the shoulder, police said. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Police said the subject was last seen entering a black vehicle with tinted windows and Rhode Island license plates. The vehicle fled southbound on Lehrer Avenue.
