The late Elmont basketball coach Gregg Petrocelli.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Elmont Spartan Club will be hosting an all day basketball fundraising event in memory of Gregg Petrocelli. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the junior high boys basketball seventh- and eighth-grade teams will start the event with games against Floral Park High School. Following these games, the boys varsity team from Sewanhaka High School will play New Hyde Park at noon. At 2 p.m., the Elmont boys varsity team will take the court against Carey High School. Afterwards, the Locust Valley girls varsity will play Sewanhaka High School and as the finale at 6 p.m., the Elmont girls varsity will play New Hyde Park.

Throughout the day, the Elmont Spartan Club will be sponsoring several activities to raise funds for the Petrocelli family. They will be asking for a $ 5 adult donation and a $2 student contribution at the door for an all day pass to the event. There will be concessions throughout the day that will offer food, snacks and drinks of every variety. Sports collectibles, gift items, athletic sportswear and sport supplies will be offered for sale before, during and after all of the basketball games. There will also be several activities and contests taking place during the halftime breaks of the varsity games.

• Donate $5 and attend the event with an all day pass or $ 2.00 for a single game.

• Donate gifts, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, candy, snacks or sportswear.

• Donate "Christmas gifts" that will be sold in the concession area.

All donations will be gratefully accepted by Pete Gaffney, the Elmont Athletic Director, and checks should be made out to the Petro Fund. Mr. Gaffney can be reached at 488-9238.

All at Elmont are very excited about this event and hope that you can be a part of it.
