On Saturday, June 9, at the Covert Avenue School in Elmont, there will be a walk held to raise awareness for scleroderma, an autoimmune connective tissue disorder that consists of an over production of collagen. The tissue hardens, affecting muscles and tendons and eventually causing joints to contract and become stiff and painful. Peter Ponce was diagnosed by scleroderma when he was four years old.
