Opinion

On behalf of the Board of Education of the Franklin Square Union Free School District District #17, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Assemblyman Thomas Alfano for, once again, showing us what a great friend Franklin Square has in Albany.

Due to his tireless efforts during tough state budget negotiations, Assemblyman Alfano was able to secure for the Franklin Square community a record increase in state aid of approximately $400,000. This increase in state aid will allow us to present to the public an even lower than expected tax levy when we put our budget to vote on May 15.

Assemblyman Alfano was hosting the children of Franklin Square in Albany for his Mentors and Leaders Program during the budget negotiations. I am sure that having our children there was an inspiration for him when he was going back and forth into negotiation sessions.

Once again, I would like to thank Assemblyman Alfano for all that he has done for the Franklin Square community.

Joseph Armocida

President

Franklin Square UFSD
