Former West Hempstead School Superintendent S. Harold Silvers passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14. Silvers worked for the West Hempstead Schools since 1958 and was the first principal of the Cornwell Avenue School. He was also principal of the middle school when it was located at the George Washington School. Silvers also served as assistant superintendent prior to becoming superintendent for three years.
