Levinson: WH Library Tax Increase 'Unconscionable'
Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson says the West Hempstead Library Project will increase the tax levy for 2006-2007 by $1,148,648, a whopping 63 percent increase from the previous year. Levinson called the increase "unconscionable."

FS Residents Argue Against Proposed Cell Tower
On Sept. 28, attorney Tom McKevitt argued on behalf of numerous Franklin Square residents against a proposed 65-foot cell tower being proposed by Omnipoint for construction at 340 Dogwood Avenue. The Town of Hempstead Board of Zoning and Appeals adjourned the hearing and as of Tuesday morning, no date has been scheduled for it to resume.
