On the fifth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Town of Hempstead will hold a Sunrise Program to remember those who lost their lives. The ceremony will take place on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 a.m. at Town Park Point Lookout.

A focal point of the ceremony will be two crystalline towers illuminated from the inside, rising from the waters of a reflective pool. Guests will be invited to cast symbolic white carnations in the pool as part of an interactive memorial program.

West Hempstead's citizens and organizations will come together on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. for a candlelight ceremony to remember the victims of September 11, 2001 at Hall's Pond Park on Nassau Boulevard by the gazebo. All residents are invited to attend and participate.
