Astoria Federal Savings Bank at 490 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead was robbed on Monday, Dec. 19 at 12:40 p.m., according to police.

Detectives said that a white male subject in his 30s and wearing a baseball cap, tan jacket and jeans entered the bank and demanded money from a teller.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of currency, the subject fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction, police said. None of the seven employees or 10 customers present at the bank at the time was injured.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
