The New York State Department of Health reported on the first isolation of West Nile Virus (WNV) from a mosquito pool in Nassau County. The virus was identified in a mosquito sample, which was collected July 21 from Belmont Raceway in Elmont. FULL STORY

Assemblyman Tom Alfano hosted his third annual "Women of Distinction" awards celebration in the Elmont community last Friday at Dutch Broadway School where over 500 people jammed the Dutch gymnasium to pay tribute to outstanding women who have made a difference in the community or through the professions.
