With regard to the recent rash of terrorist bombings in England, as well as other countries, I would like to respond to the reports of the growing tensions, suspicions and hostilities toward the Muslim people. I am glad to see that more people are getting involved in their world around them, and reporting suspicious actions that may be related to terrorism.
However, we must remember not to take things into our own hands, but let the police and other authorities handle these matters. While we may not always agree with the decisions they make, and they can make mistakes, they still have much more professional and advanced capabilities to deal with terrorism that everyday people like you and I do not.
We must not judge entire groups of people by the actions of a few, we must judge each person on their own merit. Instead of being afraid or against Muslims, get to know them and you will learn that most are exactly like you and I, with the same hopes and dreams for a better life for themselves and their future generations. Most of us are here in the United States because someone in our family, whether recently or a long time ago, came here as an immigrant.
I am proud to have neighbors and friends who are Muslim, as well as of many other varied cultures and backgrounds. They have enriched my life many times over, and have made my world a better place. We must all be united together against terrorism, regardless of nationality or religion, for there is power in numbers.
