Assemblyman Alfano with local residents, supporting legislation for safe staffing ratios and quality care for patients, and local nurses. He is holding a "Protect New York" T-shirt presented him by nurses from Elmont.

Nurses from Elmont, Franklin Square, West Hempstead, North Valley Stream and Hempstead came to the State Capitol and joined Assemblyman Tom Alfano in fighting for safe staffing issues for hospitals and minimum staffing ratios for nurses. Elmont residents Myldred Previl and Icilda Innocent led the nursing lobbying teams in meeting with state leaders.

"Nurses are a critical part of our health care community that can never be taken for granted. I can't thank them enough for all they do for our community each and every day. Safe staffing and quality care are the keys to success in nursing. I'm proud to stand with them," said Alfano.
