Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body that was found in Elmont early Sunday morning.

According to police, at 7:46 a.m. on April 24, two 5th Precinct officers, while responding to a 911 call, discovered a human body in the street about 100 feet south of Hempstead Turnpike on the west side of Clement Avenue.

The body is described as a white male. Police said the body had a bag over its head and was wrapped in a plaid cloth fabric, which was tied with a cord.

The body has been removed to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.

Police later identified the man as Donald Ginnane, 54, of Franklin Square.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives request anyone with information about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
