Putting out affordable school budgets in front of Long Island taxpayers is becoming a more difficult task for boards of education every year. With the rising costs of education and the stagnant shares of state aid going to some schools in Nassau, school officials struggle to put together a budget that won't financial hurt its taxpayers while trying to maintain an educational program that allows schools to meet state standards.
