The West Hempstead Civic Association will be having their General Meeting, open to the entire community, on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the West Hempstead Middle School Cafeteria at 7:30 p.m. The main topics will be property taxes, assessments, tax challenges and tax exemptions.

Nassau County Tax Assessor Harvey Levinson will discuss the functions of his office as well as areas which effect all property owners. He will also provide information about property taxes, how to challenging your assessment, and apply for the many exemptions you may be eligible to receive.

Since our schools and education are so vital to our community, we have invited Dr. Carole Eisenberg, superintendent of the West Hempstead Schools and Dr. Christine Grucci, assistant superintendent for Business, to the meeting to help residents better understand how school tax rates are determined. If you have questions regarding how school budgets and school tax rates are developed, this is the meeting to attend.
