On Sunday, Feb. 27, the community of Elmont will be celebrating Black History Month at the Clara H. Carlson School from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Last year, Elmont Online and the Elmont Community Awareness Program (ECAP) sponsored the first annual event, which was highly successful. The day gave the community a chance to honor the accomplishments and contributions of black Americans. Elmont civic leader Livingston Chrichlow was honored last year and presented with the 21st Assembly District Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. award by Assemblyman Tom Alfano and the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Black History Month Award for his community service.
The Clara H. Carlson School is located at 235 Belmont Boulevard in Elmont, three blocks south of Hempstead Turnpike between Estelle and Johnston Avenues.
Everyone is invited to join in the celebration of this historic day in Elmont.
