The Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) announced that its 11th Annual Awards Dinner will be held on April 11 at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place. The dinner honors athletes for excellence in sports, academics, and community service, and coaches for exceptional commitment to athletes, sportsmanship and community. These awards are given on both the high school and collegiate levels.
Nominations from the public are now being accepted for the high school and college awards given to athletes and coaches. The NCSC is also accepting nominations for the Sportsmanship Award, given to an individual who best exemplifies ideals of "fair play." Please visit their website, www.nassausports.org, for further information and nominations forms. Forms must be returned by the deadline, Feb. 14.
The NCSC is privileged to announce that four-time Track and Field Gold Medallist Al Oerter and former world ranked tennis professional Gene Mayer are scheduled, among others, to accept their induction into the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame on April 11. Tickets and corporate sponsorship packages for the awards dinner are available.
