Elmont Memorial High School announced the Class of 2005 valedictorian and salutatorian. The valedictorian is Nick Simon and the salutatorian is Oduche Igboechi.

Nick has spent the last six years at Elmont Memorial High School and will graduate with a 99.44 average. Nick is known as an intelligent and talented young man who enjoys intellectual challenges.

Having taken the most rigorous course of study at Elmont Memorial High School, Nick excelled in all of his classes. In addition, he understands the importance of community involvement and volunteer work.

As a junior, he volunteered his time and energy to the Parker Jewish Geriatric Institute, making the lives of senior citizens a bit richer. His extra-curricular activities date back to his freshman year when Nick became a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, the Foreign Language Honor Society, Intercultural Club, Mathletes, Math Honor Society, Senior Honor Society and the Talented and Gifted Program.

Nick is also athletically inclined, having been captain of the junior varsity soccer team. In his quiet and reflective way, Nick has earned the respect of his teachers and peers.

Oduche spent the last six years at Elmont Memorial High School and has held a 98.8 grade point average. By graduation, he will have taken seven AP courses. He has risen to every academic challenge at Elmont Memorial.

In addition to his high academic achievement, Oduche has also excelled as a member of the football, lacrosse and track teams while also serving in student government.

Oduche has won numerous awards in the Model United Nations and is a member of the National Honor Society, Mathletes and Foreign Language Honor Society.

Oduche also has found time to teach Sunday School at St. Boniface Church. He is referred to as an easy going and funny person who is well regarded by his teachers and peers.

Elmont Memorial High School is proud to announce Nick and Oduche as the senior class valedictorian and salutatorian for 2005.
